چکیده

Data from heat flow and gramivetric tides are at our disposal in the island of Lanzarote (Canary Islands); its formation is known and, in addition to it, a model of its. crust which provides us with its thicknes is at our disposal. When studying the relationship among these parameters, a disagreement with the results obtained from previous studies is observed; those studies show a clear relationship between positive anomalies in the cosine component of the M2 and 01 waves of the gravimetric tide harmonic development and high values of heat flow; while the heat flow values determined in the island are abnormally high, the cosine components of the residues for these waves, determined by observation, have no abnormal values, and in the case of M2 wave, a negative value. On the other hand, the measured heat flow values are as expected, once the island crust thickness and its recent volcanic activity have been seen.

A comparison of daily water use estimates derived from constant-heat sap-flow probe values and gravimetric measurements in pot-grown saplings.

Use of Granier-style heat dissipation sensors to measure sap flow is common in plant physiology, ecology and hydrology. There has been concern that any change to the original Granier design invalidates the empirical relationship between sap flux density and the temperature difference between the probes. Here, we compared daily water use estimates from gravimetric measurements with values from v...

Models of magnetic and Bouguer gravity anomalies for the deep structure of the central Alboran Sea basin

Magnetic and gravimetric data from the central Alboran Sea allow identification of two axes of crustal thinning, which were probably active during the Oligocene—Early Miocene. The western Alboran basin axis is subparallel and may be related in origin to the Gibraltar Arc. The ENE—WSW trending Alboran Channel axis is probably intruded by basic igneous rocks and may represent the western end of t...

On the thermal capacity of a bird's egg warmed by a brood patch.

Eggs of intermittently incubating birds are periodically rewarmed by a transient pulse of heat from the parent's brood patch. Estimating the energy cost of rewarming such an egg requires knowledge of the egg's thermal capacity, typically assumed to be the product of the egg's mass and its specific heat, designated here as the gravimetric thermal capacity. When chicken eggs are transiently warme...

Application of the Avrami Theory for Wax Crystallisation of Synthetic Crude Oil

Wax crystallisation and deposition from offshore reservoirs have been causing serious problems such as plugged pipelines and reduced production flow rates. This issue is receiving more attention from the researchers and for commercial applications due to the shift in trend from using offshore production facilities to pipelines utilization. The aim of this study is the implementation of the Avra...
